Dear Friend,
This week has seen three attempted bombings of Jewish
targets in India, Georgia (the former Soviet Republic) and Thailand. These
attacks are believed to be part of a coordinated campaign by Hezbollah
terrorists with the funding and approval of the Iranian government, and follow
attempted bombings in Eastern Europe.
At
the same time, Iran has announced new progress in their nuclear program. They
unveiled a new centrifuge system capable of producing more highly enriched
uranium (the kind needed for weapons) as well as declaring that they are now
using nuclear fuel rods manufactured inside Iran. Previously they had been
forced to import these rods. Analysts view this as a sign that Iran’s nuclear
program is proceeding even faster than some had previously thought.
Despite
the growing threat that Israel faces, the budget President Obama submitted to
Congress this week actually cuts funding for missile defense programs for the
Jewish state. America has long supported
Israel’s defense at a high level, but tensions between the U.S. and Israel have
continued to increase. Several members of Congress have already vowed to undo
the cuts, insuring that Israel will have sufficient money to continue to
upgrade what is perhaps their most important defensive infrastructure.
Most of our Global Outreach team has left JVMI
headquarters for Ethiopia for two medical outreaches. The volunteers and even
more staff will be joining them in about ten days. Given the heightened threats, I do ask that
you join us in prayer for God’s protection as we travel and minister. We are very excited about the possibilities
for ministry before us, and we don’t want anything to hinder the spread of the
Gospel of Yeshua.

Your
prayers and financial gifts are vitally important right now. The need is
growing, and the work of Jewish Voice is expanding to help meet that need. We
appreciate your friendship and support in God’s harvest. Thank you for being
faithful to stand with us in the work. God bless you.
To the Jew first and also to the Nations,
Jonathan Bernis
